What You’ll be Doing:

As a Business Development Administrator, you’ll work as part of the Business Development team to provide deliverables to a variety of stakeholders. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

General

  • Support and assist TWD Business Development team in meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Contribute to company business development activities.
  • Provide administrative support for Business Development team.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing reports that support the sales team.

Proposal Preparation

  • Support incoming inquiries and support proposal preparation.

  • Assist in TWD promotional items program.

What You Bring:

Instrumentation and Controls Designer

TWD is currently seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Designer to work out of our company office in Burlington, Ontario.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop instrumentation and control systems
  • Design automation systems including PLC, DCS and communication networks
  • Prepare instrument and control system layout drawings, installation drawings, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, specification sheets, panel layout, instrument index, cause & effect matrices, etc.
  • Specify instruments and final control devices
  • Develop control strategies and control narratives; provide P&ID assistance to Process Group
  • Prepare network diagrams and PLC/DCS gateway interface lists
  • Perform site visits to verify design details
  • Apply engineering concepts to assist in establishing design criteria for assigned projects
  • Support independent design reviews, model reviews, and hazards and operability evaluations
  • Check packages for design fitness, dimensional accuracy, and constructability
  • Monitor compliance with engineering and drafting standards to proactively ensure the quality and accuracy of technical deliverables
  • Ensure that work is checked in accordance with client and TWD’s standards and procedures
  • Working knowledge and good understanding of Electrical Code and Standards such OESC, CEC, CSA and IEEE.
  • Backdrafts redlines from check prints and markups as directed by the Electrical Engineer/Technologist
  • Creates drawings based on sketches, templates or previous designs.
  • Performs routine material take offs (MTO)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Technical diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in Electrical Design/Drafting.
  • 5+ years relevant electrical CAD experience (previous experience in design drafting or equivalent educational experience using CAD computer systems)
  • Certification in CAD or Drafting would be a strong asset
  • Experience with AutoCAD version 2014 or higher. Experience with Plant 3D is preferred
  • Experience with construction site, ability to perform site inspection and work closely with contractor during constructions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office is a must
  • Work effectively independently and as a team member.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skill. Commitment and enthusiasm for learning.  Able to work and communicate in a team environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare maintenance scopes of work for the repair, alteration, and/or replacement-in-kind of refinery equipment.
  • Perform field walkdowns and collaborate with maintenance and operations personnel to develop repair plans.
  • Lead and coordinate multi-discipline repair plans, failure investigations, fitness for service assessments, and reliability programs.
  • Ensure all work scopes and engineered solutions can be implemented safely and will perform in a safe manner
  • Pursue root causes of equipment damage and/or failures and drive permanent solutions to avoid repeat.
  • Design solutions for chronic equipment performance issues.
  • Perform all work in compliance with client standards, programs, and procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement of asset strategies, asset performance, maintenance procedures, and reliability programs.
  • Provide assistance to maintenance technicians in troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Repair, modification, and/or replacement in kind of piping, valves, and mechanical equipment (fin fans, shell and tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, filters, etc.).
  • Prepare equipment inspection and/or preventative maintenance scopes

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree (B.Eng) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Professional Engineer certified in the province of Alberta through APEGA.
  • 5-15  years of experience in oil & gas industry – preferably in Oilsands and/or refineries.
  • Knowledge of the following standards:
    • ASME B31.1 & B31.3
    • ASME Sec VIII
    • API 510, 570, 571, 579, 580, 581
  • Knowledge of maintenance and turnaround practices an asset.
  • Knowledge of reliability principles (i.e. asset management, asset criticality, inspection programs, piping inspection methods, fitness for service, damage mechanisms).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is an asset)
  • Working knowledge of the following is an asset.
    • SAP
    • AutoCAD
  • Demonstrate exceptional critical thinking skills with an ability to identify and anticipate potential risks.
  • Ability to work autonomously yet collaboratively as part of a team.

Pipeline Engineer

What You'll be Doing: 

As a Pipeline Engineer, you'll work as part of the Consulting Engineering team to provide deliverables on a variety of clients. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Perform detailed engineering pipeline design and analyses such as route optimization, wall thickness calculation, material selection, tie-in design, cathodic protection, etc.
  • Prepare pipeline layouts, route map, alignment sheets, and crossings.
  • Prepare technical requisitions, datasheets, specifications, bid evaluation, vendor data review, technical clarifications, inspection and test plans, criticality rating for pipeline assets such as pipeline, induction bends, flanges, fittings, valves, coating, etc.
  • Perform quality control assessments to ensure the pipeline designs are in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Familiar with the development of key documents such as:
    • IFP – Issued for Purchase
    • IFC – Issued for Construction
    • ITP – Inspection and Test Plan
    • RFI – Request for Information
    • EWP – Engineering Work Package
    • CWP – Construction Work Package
    • SDR – Supplier Document Requirements
    • MTR – Material Test Report
    • P&ID – Piping and Instrumentation Diagram
  • Support the preparation of technical bid packages.
  • Provide construction and installation support as require.
  • Prepare the technical specifications and data sheets for material purchasing.
  • Assist with the selection of laying spread/methods and perform/review installation design analysis for the pipeline system.
  • Compile alignment sheets and design manual.
  • Perform/verify all discipline analyses and calculation notes required to design the pipelines system, including the engineering activities of third parties/sub-contractors.
  • Perform work procedures such as pigging, commissioning, PSSR, start-up, and purging where require.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure that proper material is obtained.
  • Perform hazard analysis and take measures to minimize any impact.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring: 

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or structural engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a pipeline engineer or similar.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of existing codes and regulations such as CSA, ASME, ASTM, API, ISO, etc.

Process Engineering Lead

A diverse and rapidly growing organization, TWD is a leading engineering consulting service provider with expertise in the oil and gas (upstream, refining, terminalling and blending, renewables), renewable power, pipelines, infrastructure and other industries. TWD is currently seeking a Process Engineering Lead, to work out of our Burlington Office.

The ideal candidate needs to be experienced, well educated and a successful leader of a team of engineers in the delivery of project tasks and initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

The role includes:

  • Hands-on, day-to-day management of engineering design activities,
  • Management and administration of the Process Engineering team for planning, reporting and team development to maintain key KPIs, meet business targets and growth objectives,
  • Leadership of the Process Engineering team for mentoring and skills development.
  • Participation in Business Development activities and TWD ‘Seller-Doer’ culture to grow the Process Engineering team and overall TWD business.

The role reports to the General Manager, Burlington.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise, perform, and check calculations and design using both computer-aided and manual techniques.
  • Lead the development of process deliverables which includes (but not limited to): development of PFDs, P&IDs, line designation tables, data sheets and completing equipment sizing calculations, control philosophy, heat and material balance, operating procedures, risk assessments etc.
  • Lead development of process design for conceptual and feasibility studies, front-end process design and detailed engineering of capital projects.
  • Ensure all Process engineering activities are completed according to TWD processes and procedure, Client standards and all applicable Regulatory Codes, regulations, laws and standards.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to contribute to the improvement of Client operations, maintenance, process safety and reliability programs.
  • Facilitation of PHA reviews.
  • Conduct research and participate in strategic technology assessments and evaluations of chemical process technology in order to expand TWD business in existing and new areas.
  • Assist project managers with schedules, estimates, progress reports, meetings, procurement, activities, etc.
  • Organize and plan jobs with respect scope, resources, budget and schedule.
  • BD activities including presentations to clients, development of proposals and provision of process engineering estimates for proposals.
  • Support requirements for process validations and conduct process simulations.
  • Develop and communicate detailed engineering reports and studies and present them to clients and senior management.
  • Participate and potentially lead conceptual development projects in areas of process and mechanical support.
  • Direct and guide other TWD team members in areas of process investigations and validations, including staff, contract and co-op students.
  • Capable of developing scoping study, design basis memorandums and participations in engineering design specifications and detail engineering.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of TWD internal systems to improve our quality and efficiency of delivering effective projects to clients.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering Certification (P.Eng).
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in process engineering design in an EPC environment, preferably serving the industrial and petrochemical industry.
  • Strong experiences and knowledge with process simulations and associated tools (e.g., ASPEN HYSYS, AFT Fathom, AFT Impulse) for both static and dynamic simulation.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards including TSSA, ABSA, API, ASME, NFPA, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in process safety design systems.
  • Must possess leadership and coaching skills in the development, training and mentoring of team members
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (must be willing to communicate with all levels of management), a positive attitude, and a track record of delivering  on all commitments.
  • Demonstrated experience meeting tight deadlines and managing time appropriately.
  • Aptitude for Seller-Doer activities including building and maintaining client relationships, scoping new work, and resolving concerns.
  • Desire and aptitude for developing and continually improving in-house engineering processes, procedures, templates, etc.
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • B. Eng from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • 8+ years of project engineering/project management experience in industrial projects with multi-discipline exposure
  • Registered Professional Engineer (EIT/P.E.) is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and Project)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset

Senior Electrical Designer

As a diverse and rapidly growing organization, TWD is a leading organization in the oil and gas industry. With expertise ranging from pipelines, terminals and blending, renewables, food and beverage and many more!

TWD is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join our team in Ontario (GTA or Sarnia)! This exciting opportunity will involve reporting to the Electrical Lead to provide and produce quality electrical designs and drawings. The Senior Electrical Designer will also be responsible for the preparation of project specifications.

Duties:

• Design of electrical layouts for cable raceways, lighting, electrical grounding and lightning protection systems, substations, E-Houses, and heat tracing elements

• Design and develop high voltage (230 kV+) single line/3-line diagrams as instructed by Engineers.

• Prepare 3D model for HV electrical equipment, underground ducts and cable trays

•Prepare equipment list and load list for the entire project

• Design electrical heat tracing system and prepare bill of materials

• Design and develop control schematics for motors, switchgear and plant lighting systems

• Prepare cable schedules, panel schedules and termination drawings in consultation with single line diagrams and vendor drawings

• Review vendor drawings for MCC, switchgear, UPS and other electrical equipment, as required

• Provides technical guidance to lower-level design/drafting personnel and reviews completed assignments for accuracy

• Interface with other disciplines (civil and mechanical) on design and multidiscipline packages Prepare electrical area classification drawings

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, generating facilities, or power distribution systems.

• Degree or diploma in electrical technology

• Ability to coach and assist team members

• Strong field experience in operating facilities

• Familiar with low voltage switchgear and switchboards

• Thorough understanding of CEC and NEC codes

• Thorough knowledge of hazardous area electrical systems and API-505 standard

• Proficient in current release of AutoCAD, Plant-3D, and Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel)

• Lighting design experience using software DialuX, AGI or other popular software

• Experience in preparing load list, voltage drop calculation, cable schedule, equipment list and bill of materials

• Thorough in design of cable tray system, cable tray loading and heat tracing design
